A Quiet Retreat in a Scuba Divers Paradise
Papaya Place Divers Inn is a collection of three accommodations in beautiful West Bay. The one 2-bedroom unit is the lower level of the home we purchased on Caribbean Life 01-25-15 and the two 1-bedroom units we built in the fall of 2015. We are in the ‘Forest Hills’ neighborhood a development of only seven houses. The property is off the main road away from traffic. Our street is nestled on a quite hillside between Key Hole Bay and the Turrets; the most exclusive part of Roatan. Our Hideaway is a short 10 minute walk to the fabulous West Bay Beach; the most beautiful beach on the island. All the restaurants, bars, diving and snorkeling that you could ever want is right here. So if you don’t want to leave West Bay Beach area, you don’t have to ! But if you want to party, West End is only a short walk along the beach in daylight hours and water taxi or taxi ride home after dark. Zip Lining and other activities are also close by, so no need to rent a car; unless you would like to go explore the East side of the island. We are facing the south shore the ‘Windward’ side of the island. We DO have the tropical breezes for your enjoyment and comfort 90 percent of the time. If you are a morning person you will enjoy the sunrises every morning. If not we have you covered with blackout curtains in all the rooms. Right out your back door is a trail path which turns into a road; which is called “The Loop” for the walkers and the runners in your family. The entire property has FREE WI-FI access including by the swimming pool.
Fire Fly – A Large Two Bedroom with Full Kitchen
Fire Fly is the bottom apartment level of our home. Fire Fly has its own front door entrance. I picked the name because twice a year fireflies totally cover the forest floor. All year we see a few but it is a remarkable sight to see when they are here mating. Fire Fly is the two bedroom unit, with one bathroom and a full kitchen with eating area. Each of the large bedrooms has its own bedroom entrance door and French doors out to the private screened-in deck. Each bedroom has its own ceiling fan, air conditioner, television with cable, FREE WI-FI, and queen size bed with a 10 inch memory foam mattress. The master bedroom has a poster bedroom suite. The second bedroom has a Murphy queen bed which can be put up so the room can double as a living room when only two people are renting. From the large, private deck you view Roatan’s beautiful Iron shore and crystal clear, blue Caribbean Sea. Be cooled by constant breezes while you sit out on the deck and relax to read or take a nap in the hammock. On a clear day the mountains of mainland Honduras are visible. The bright, large bathroom has a shower for two and single sink. The kitchen has a ceiling fan, full size stove and oven, full size fridge and table seating for four. There is also a table for four out on the private deck. The inside square footage is 700 square feet. The screened-in private deck is another 225 square feet outside. All bed linens, pillows, kitchen linens, bath towels, beach towels, pool towels and boat towels are provided. The Kitchen is fully equipped with water cooler dispenser, ALL dishes, cooking pans, silverware, etc. The gas BBQ grill is also right out your front door.
Casita Hummingbird and Casita Watusa
In the fall of 2015 we built two, one bedroom casitas; mirror image side-by-side. Casita Hummingbird and Casita Watusa are beautiful, brand new, one bedroom studios on the second floor. The ocean view, from the large shared balcony, overlooks Roatan’s beautiful south shore, also known as the ‘Iron Shore” and the crystal clear, blue Caribbean Sea. Be cooled by constant breezes while you sit out on the 250 square foot balcony. On a clear day the mountains of mainland Honduras are visible. Have breakfast at the table on your balcony or out by the swimming pool. Comfy cushioned chairs are right out your French doors to relax and read; or take a nap in the hammocks. Each Casita has a queen, poster bed with a 10 inch memory foam mattress, two person dining table, closet, air conditioner, ceiling fan, and television with cable. FREE WI-FI. The kitchenette is well-stocked with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, rice cooker, two burner electric cook top, and other electrical cooking items. The kitchenette is fully equipped with ALL dishes, cooking pans, silverware, etc. A gas BBQ grill is also available downstairs. The spacious bathrooms have a double sink vanity and oversized shower for two. The commode is hidden by a half wall. All bed linens, pillows, kitchen linens, bath towels, beach towels, pool towels and boat towels are provided.
